The Movember Foundation was started in Melbourne, 2003 by two normal guys who thought they could bring back the Mo. Channelling their inner Tom Selleck, they found 30 other guys willing to take up the challenge; they didn’t raise any money but ‘Movember’ was born.

The Movember Foundation rapidly grew (excuse the pun), fast forward 14 years to the present day, where the charity now receives a ranking of 49 out of the top 500 NGO (non- government organisation) around the world, with an estimated 5,295,657 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas.

The Facts

·      Men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier.

·      Prostate cancer rates will double in the next 15 years.

·      Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50.

·      Three quarters of suicides are men.

·      Poor mental health leads to half a million men taking their own life every year. That’s one every minute.

The Movember Foundation is the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale. The charity works all year round in order to address some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. In 13 years the organisation has funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world.

The NGO’s vision is based around raising awareness on men’s health issues, those that are deemed as ‘unmacho’ for men to talk about, the issues that have often been ignored by gender biased health organisations. Since 2003, The Movember Foundation have committed themselves to helping men live happier, healthier, longer lives.
