The best part of our job is seeing the wedding photos and hearing feedback from the happy brides after the big day. We’re so fortunate to be able to help hundreds of brides perfect their dream wedding.
Recently we helped Lisa with her wedding dress and jacket alterations. Some of the alterations included taking in the waist, lifting up the skirt from waist line, taking in the bust, adding to the mesh panel on the front, shortening the skirt, and restyling the jacket.
Beautiful bride Lisa Fernandez, shares her wedding story with us. Read more about the wedding day and the couple below.
How did you meet?
We first crossed paths at a mutual friends 21st birthday and have a picture together from that night, but we didn’t know each other at the time. Then, around 2 years later we officially met through Tinder. Fun fact: Our parents never knew we met through Tinder until our wedding night!
How long have you been together for?
We’ve been together since 2015 and got engaged in 2019 with plans to get married in 2020, but thanks to covid we had to postpone 4 times till we could finally tie the knot in 2022.
Where did you have the wedding?
We had a two day wedding. Day 1 was a Hindu ceremony at Eatons Hill Hotel. It was a great size for our large families and the stage and gorgeous ceiling worked so well for the ceremony.
On Day 2 we had our Catholic wedding ceremony at Our Lady of Victories Church with a reception to follow at Victoria Park. I first fell in love with the church as it looked similar to the one my parents got married in.
We had always loved the idea of a marquee wedding but with so many guests didn’t want the stress of organising one so Victoria Park was the perfect option. It had the same cosy feel but with all the luxurious touches we wanted like the beautiful chandeliers and stunning city views. We also had a lot of overseas and interstate guests and felt that the inside/outside feel of the marquee with the deck was a very Queensland experience.
The Dress
I first saw a picture of my dress online and fell in love! I knew it was the one right away. I loved how classic and simple yet extravagant it was. It was really flattering and comfy to wear and my favorite part was that it came with this amazing tulle, sparkly, long sleeved overcoat which was so fun for the reception. We ended up altering the sleeves a little from the original design and I loved how it turned out!
The Suits
The Suits were from InStitchu in Brisbane. All very classic, timeless looks that fit the vibe of the wedding really well.
How did you find The Fitting Room?
I had first heard of The Fitting Room through work years ago and I remember a lot of people saying it was their go-to place for alterations. I had tried other places before but was neve fully happy with the end result so I did a bit of research, read the reviews and decided to just go with my gut. I was really nervous because the fit of wedding dress can make or break the whole look but the final result was beyond perfect and the team at The Fitting Room was so lovely to work with during those stressful last weeks in the lead up to a wedding.
Best moments of the day/what was most memorable?
I’ve tried to pick one moment in particular but for me it was really just the amazing vibe of the whole experience. Everyone was in a good spirits, the weather was great, drinks were flowing, the dancefloor was always full – it was the best party ever.
What is some advice you would give to other people planning their weddings?
Don’t get caught up on minor details and stress! Enjoy the process as it’s all part of the experience. Also, book everything as early as possible! Vendors book out so quickly so get all the big things booked ASAP.
Standout Vendors
